Systems & Apps
With our background in the development of commercial business & management information systems (MIS), we bring the rigour and engineering principles of traditional client-server development into the 21st century by building modular systems atop open protocols and technology platforms. Please consult our development section for more information.

System
EDIS (Emergency Data Interchange System) has been fully developed in-house at Queensgate Studios for CWC Services. Comprising server and mobile components, it is an information collection, enquiry and communication system designed for scenarios where people and/or items need to be tracked, traced or identified through an evolving incident or situation.
Designed originally for emergency situation management, EDIS utilises geotagging, GS1-barcodes and realtime data sync across handsets. Diverse applications include Emergency Response, Hospital Patient Evacuation and Mass-Evacuation of People.
Flexicall
Flexicall is a logistics system comprising an Android mobile app, server and administration components. It is designed for organisations with on-the-road staff. It can track staff movements, assign jobs and handle sign-off requirements for the various stages of allocated jobs.
Flexicall can be tailored for a variety of applications, examples including:
- Endpoint delivery of parcels and packets
- Business service or delivery callouts
- Collection services
- Private hire vehicles
Expandable on-screen job cards summarise each job, colour coded to indicate stage of progress, eg.:
■Newly assigned ➜ □Accepted by driver ➜ ■Arrived on site ➜ ■Departing site ➜ ■Completed
Jobs progress through stages over time, usually by staff on the road. Over the course of a job, other data may be gathered or rules specified for required data (eg. signature) before a job may be progressed to the next stage.
The expanded job card shows a summary of all information for that job, including instant mapping to address and one-tap phone call to the client. Data gathered through the job are also shown where appropriate.
Cards are organised by the system according to priority, which can be reassigned by admin staff. Jobs can be transferred between handsets either by admin staff or optionally amongst on-the-road staff, and data gathered for a given job is synchronised between the handset(s) and base of operations.
The Flexicall system is highly configurable to different business applications and comprises an Android app and admin/server components in ongoing development. It is in use across southern England.
For a fully hosted installation, the current 2nd-gen Flexicall system is priced at £5,000 for the server installation and £50 per handset per month. This includes configuration and integration to your organisation's requirements. The third generation Flexicall system is currently in development and operates in a fully cloud-based model. We expect this system to be priced based upon organisation account and registered handset usage alone, starting at £120 per month for the first 2 handsets, the price dropping as further handsets are added.

QR Audiobooks
We've built a novel system for delivering literature, poetry and other written works in audible form. The system works by embedding QR codes in printed materials, allowing users to snap these barcodes with their smartphone or tablet in order to instantly listen to a reading of the material.
Though designed originally for literature, the system could also be used to provide additional audio-based materials to accompany written works. For example music, lecture notes, audible Q&A or additional words from an author. It could also be used to provide additional digital resources to printed materials delivered in electronic form, eg. video, animations, photo slideshows, interactive tutorials, simple games etc.. The possibilities are almost limitless, the aim being to add value to traditional printed materials with modern digital media.
We're keen to work with publishers, authors, printers and other businesses in this sector to expand the system to a variety of diverse application areas.
